I don't normally post works in progress, so I figured that I'd try it out. Here's my current project. I want to tweak the pose (especially that left arm) and add some hair and some cloth still, but I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out.
Another piece of art for my good friend's custom MTG set project. Sculpted in zBrush and rendered in 3ds Max with Vray. Post effects and compositing in Photoshop. Went with a more painterly feel to this one to get it to feel a little more like a MTG illustration. Didn't have to take the sculpt past the sketch phase so this whole thing only took a few hours.
I have to say that I really love my Elegoo Mars SLA printer. Being able to sketch something up in zBrush and have it in hand the same or next day is just one of the most rewarding feelings that I get doing 3d art. This little chonker is called a Gug. It's another creature that I wanted to make from my friend's custom MTG set project.
A buddy of mine is making his own custom set of Magic The Gathering and I've agreed to help him out with a few pieces of art for it. I wanted to try and capture the tension right before the bite occurs. I like how the piece reads on the card mockup. Was a fun and quick little project. Modeled in zBrush, rendered in 3ds Max with Vray, and touched up in Photoshop. All MTG symbols and card frame are copyright Wizards of the Coast.
Recently I finished up CGMA's Fundamentals of Houdini for 3D Artists taught by Varomix Wey. My buddy needed a logo sting for his MTG youtube channel, so I whipped up this for him. Overall I'm happy with how it came out. I need to dig deeper into materials and lighting though because I think this could be rendered at a much higher visual quality. Another option would be figuring out how to export this to 3Ds Max so I could render with V-Ray (which I'm a lot more comfortable with).
Spent 2 lunch breaks realizing my buddy, Evan Nazdrowicz's, female Megaman concept. Go check out his work! I 3D printed this for him too. Might turn it into a model kit for him if he gets enough interest.
